How automatic payment matching works

Olvano reconciles incoming payments with invoices by variable symbol and amount — saving you hours of manual bookkeeping.

Ticking off paid invoices against a bank statement is tedious and error-prone. Connect Olvano to your bank account and reconciliation happens on its own, within seconds of a payment landing.

How matching works

Olvano compares each incoming payment against your open invoices and looks for a match on:

  • the variable symbol (invoice number),
  • the amount and currency,
  • the client's account number as a tiebreaker.

When the variable symbol and amount line up, the invoice is marked paid automatically — and a thank-you note can go out to the client.

When a payment doesn't line up

Real-world payments aren't always exact. Olvano handles the common cases:

  • Partial payment — the invoice stays open with the remaining balance.
  • Overpayment — we flag the difference so you can refund or credit it.
  • Wrong symbol — we surface the payment as a suggested match for you to confirm in one click.

Everything in one place

Every payment gets its own record with a timestamp and a linked invoice. Your dashboard shows what's paid, what's overdue, and where you're still waiting on a balance. Closing the books becomes a matter of minutes, not days.
